“How do you know No. 20 is going to veer off at the last second?”

“I don’t know.  I just feel that that is what is going to happen.”

“Are you some sort of oracle?  People in the village talk, you know.”

“Oh, what do they say?  I am like the Wizard of Oz?”

“Who?”

“Never mind.  It is an old story they made into a movie a long, long time ago.”

“All right, I’ll tell you what I am going to do.  You have questions and want answers.  The great and powerful Oz does not have all the answers.  By the way, did you find that book yet?”

“Not yet, but I intend to.  What’s the name of it again?”

“It’s ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.’  I forget the author.  You’ll find it in the library.  In the story there is a nice lady from one of the directions – I think north or south, I forget which – that they call a ‘witch’ but who was a woman with knowledge about magic and magical powers and so on.

“The little girl, her name was Dorothy, and her dog Toto go to this nice lady and she helps Dorothy find the answers to her questions.”

“So all I have to do is check out the Oz book from the library, read the part about the non-witch from some unknown point on the compass, and then I will be able to figure out how the Amazon warrior princess deflects storms away from us.  Do I have that right?

“That’s all I have to do, and all my questions will be answered?”
