“Earlier today I was out back again, staring at the old dock stretching out into the bay, trying to remember some song from way, way back that was hidden somewhere in the recesses of my old, addled brain.  I remember the basic tune somewhat.

The words were something about sitting out on a dock somewhere, watching the tide, or something like that.

Who was the guy that sang that song?  It was before my time but I seem to recall my dad singing along to that tune at some honky-tonk he took me to, way back when.  * * * ”

“ *** I made a mental note to check to see if the Appetizer (storm) was mentioned in one of the manuals.  Maybe there was also something in there about that song that was just on the tip of my brain, but not quite there.

“’Otis’ somebody?  Nah, I don’t think he had an old country boy name like that.”
